The Vineyard

Established in 1988, Tolpuddle Vineyard sits on a gently sloping north-east facing site in the cool and dry Coal River Valley. The soil is light silica over sandstone and of moderate vigour, ensuring well-balanced vines producing grapes of great flavour and intensity. The vineyard is planted to mature Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines, and is 31 hectares in total.

A spontaneous road trip, some timely advice from mates and a healthy dose of serendipity led to Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith MW purchasing Tolpuddle Vineyard in 2011.
